Had a little fun the other day :)

Put my car on the Dyno @ my friends Motorsport Collage.

Was great fun although a little worrying......

The bloke testing was very impressed with the car although the exhaust extractors couldn't remove the thick black smoke quick enough!!!

Ok Wimmy & Andy, I DO belive you now, it does smoke a bit :)

Anyways I was just wondering, if there a few people on here up4 a dyno test, maybe we could book summit as a club to attend a propper Dyno test place........

Just a thought..... anyways.. here's some pics :)

Just a little eh Tommy :)

what did she put out then?

and id be up for a run on the dyno's, once ive got a few bits sorted in a couple of months.

just one thing though, if its been done properly, where are the fans hiding? cant see any in the pics

good idea Tom, theres a place in Peterborough owned by harvey gibbs I think is his name, has a 1000hp 4wd rolling road (not that we'd need that much, and with groups thinking it works out at £20-£25 per person :)

here you go andy... Screen Shot from the video :)

Well the output wasn't quite as much as i hoped BUT the Dyno is only used to demo how it's done for the students.... so it might not be quite accurate.

Saying that, it's having a know car put on it this week, and if it's out they will get it fully calerbrated and I can have another go :)

thast more like it :)

so what are we talking when saying not quite what you expected??? ;)

Andy, I'd sooner not say if thats alright.... not cos im being shy or arsey but I belive the Dyno to be slightly out so for me to accuratly state what my car is running would be a lie at this time.

saying that if ya call me... i'll let you kno ;)

Dynos are usually very accurate at giving the wheel Torque/BHP figures, the inaccuracy comes in turning that into a flywheel figure. That not down to the dyno itself, thats down to the person running it.

i'd like a go of that, i bet my 99 155hgt has lost at least 15 horses since birth. looks like fun.

Right.....

Spend the afternoon with nige.. had it tested un-mapped then re-mapped (see other post for long winded version) and it is quicker...

Standard 0-60 11.45secs
re-map 0-60 9.20secs

the rolling road results were 105Hp, 220Nm Tourque

ere thats where i went to college! i'd recognise that dyno anywhere! dont worry bout that output tommy, i remember when we used the dyno on a mates 1.4 corsa (lol) it was registering 30 at the wheels! it always seems to give odd readings (unless they've finally figured out how to work it properly!)
ah memories :)

105 at the wheels, yes Tom.

105bhp was the fly I think. Utter crap! There is no way that car would spin the wheels in 2nd, do a 9.2s 0-60 on a greasy road, two up with 105bhp! We proved that today.

We put the car back to standard, it did 0-60 in 11.75s... that was about right with 105bhp, then it did low 9s after re-remapping.

Rolling roads are ****e, always have been, always will be. A calibrated dyno is a totally different matter... but I was very sceptical when Tommy rang me about it.

I am not saying that the RR was ****ed, but something wasnt right!

Well it couldn't make 220nM and 105BHP at the fly.

105 at the wheels isn't too bad but it still doesn't ring true with the 220nm.

Rolling roads are good if the operator knows what they are doing. Anything which takes a power reading after the gearbox is subject to losses.

The only true way is to measure at the flywheel itself, but its a bit costly ripping the engine out.
