the mrs and i are in a quandry, and seek the experiences of fellow sleepers:

duvet fillings: duck/goose/synthetic? feathers/down and in what proportion?

one or two piece?
ie: thinner 4.5 tog for summer, thicker 9 tog for spring/autumn, both together for winter

or

a single 9ish togger all year round?

the only thing we can agree on is size SUPER KING BABY!! 220 x 240 cm

9tog??
christ you must live with th heating on!! or be permantly at it.

12/15tog all year round here.
it gets hot in summer, I simply go into siberia where its cooler and problem solved :D

as for fillings, mmmm, rather have a nice texture

Right:
Down is softer than feathers, but more costly. Because down has more loft, it insulates better for the same weight.
Two piece duvets are a good idea, but the problem (and I speak from experience) is that they can separate inside the duvet cover. If you grab a good handful when you pull it over you, you'll be ok, but if you just grab one bit of the duvet, all the poppers come undone, and over time one of the duvets migrates to one end of cover (usually over to her side )
I'd just buy a nice warm duvet, and a medium one.

nekkid, no covers is a summertime thing. only have the heating on a couple hours in the morning and the same in the evening, so a good warm duvet to see through the night, and 10 hour daytime xbox/halo sessions, is pretty essential.

If you stick to it you should probably wash it once in a while :yuck:
