Hi, I have a Citroen Relay 2.2 hdi, 2008. Could anyone please tell me what is the noise from the engine, that comes on for a few seconds, after turning the engine off? Thank you for any help you can provide.
On my 2.3 x250 ducato I hear the EGR closing it's a metallic click towards the front of the engine. It's nothing to worry about if it turns out to be that.
Hi nige223, thanks for your response. It isn't a metallic click, but sounds like something running on for 3 - 4 seconds after the engine is switched off. Now however, it has turned into a loud squeak which again lasts for 3 - 4 seconds after switching off.
Hi Adria, thank you for your response. I don't think I have described the problem precisely enough. When I turn the engine on, after it has run for around 2 seconds, there is one short loud squeak. When I turn the engine off, immediately there are a series of around 5 longer loud squeaks, which last for around 4 seconds.
My partner is aware that the engine normally makes these exact same noises when he has been working under the bonnet, but they are much quieter, and can't be heard inside the van. Now, however, as they have become so loud it is as though something is wearing out, and we are wondering what it is that needs repair/replacing.
