Why would you buy the 1.9 a larger turbo version - 2.5td, 2.8idtd, 2.8 jtd will be more economical have more torque and be a lot more satisfactory to drive and altogether more appropriate for lugging around a permanent heavy load.

Also you'll find that most if not all the 1.9 motohomes are on the lower gvw chassis so you'll have hardly any leeway for payload, smaller wheels, smaller brakes, smaller clutch, smaller driveshaft, smaller springs.

The manufacturers were frankly taking the mick putting motorhomes on the 14q chassis.

Overloading on these chassis is practically an inevitability once you add water, passengers and basic provisions let alone awnings, whairs, tables, bikes. VOSA did a random check a couple of years ago and found 80% of motorhomes to be overweight.

Also worth looking at the adjacent post to see the lengths people are willing to go to to get rid of the 1.9.

Hi. Completely agree with moodrater the 1.9 is a struggle to drive, very boring.

People wrongly assume the smaller engine will be better on fuel.

1.9 very underpowered I am fitting 2.8d turbo to mine as we speak, but the ducato based engines are good, very reliable and very hard to get engine parts for as they are too reliable lol

internally they are nice standard but you need to go older to get the top specs, I don't like personally the microswitched tap idea crap in my eyes which is always fitted to the lower end motorhomes

but I don't think you can go far wrong
