Hi there
We're new here and need some help.
We have a 52 plate Ducato 2.8jtd with only 40k miles on the clock.
It had one previous owner and was regularly serviced every year so was very well maintained.
Just recently occurring there is a knock, either on acceleration or deceleration.
We've just replaced the lower rear engine mount which must have needed doing anyway as the whole vehicle is much much smoother but the knock is still there.
Fiat wanted £226 to supply and fit!!! The new mount on it's own was £26.
Fiat also wanted £125 to run a check to report on what was wrong before doing any work so we need to try and sort this ourselves.
We didn't realise Fiat garages were so costly.
We read that it could be either other engine mounts or drive shafts. EEEEEK!!
How easy is it to check or/and replace other engine mounts, the one we have just done only took us 25 minutes but we can't see where the others are or how to get to them?
Any ideas or suggestions would be very very much appreciated?

Hi. With such low mileage I would not expect a problem with engine mounts or drive shafts or any other major components.
Have you checked the wheel nuts are tight, and the exhaust mountings are intact?
If it’s a motor home are the gas bottles strapped up tight?

i agree with previous comment, if it is the drive shaft the noise would be more noticeable when turning corners but at that mileage i doubt it,

i have just tried to fix an 2004 one of these only the relay 2.8 with 45000 problem was with gear box noise, gearbox was took out and new bearings on input shaft were fitted the fly wheel was skimmed and a new Luk clutch was fitted now it has developed a rattle sound from the clutch adviced owner todrive away at it as this van has had 3 clutchs in last 3 months for same problem and its still the same

Hi there
Thank you all for the replies.
It was originally a minibus and it has been stripped out in preparation to convert to a camper.
There are no fittings inside as yet, no gas bottles, no worktops or cabinets etc.
The exhaust mounting all look ok, I had a good look around whilst I was fitting the new rear mount.
I've already removed all the wheels to check/service the brakes and they've all been torqued when re fitted.
It definitely sounds like like an engine mount knock, it's a hollow sound, much like when you tap any part of the main chassis with a hammer.
Does anyone know where or how to get to the other engine mounts?
Thanks again to you all.
Richard

The engine mounts are up top, its not those though. Most lightly the left wishbone bushings.

Hi and thank you.
Where can I find on the net how to check?
Is it a difficult fix?
Can anyone advise? HELP!!
Thanks again
Richard

Hello again
Is there anyone who can help us with this knock issue?
I've looked again underneath and pushed and pulled and checked bolts for tightness but can't see or feel anything untoward.
We don't really want to have to pay £120 at a Fiat garage just for a report.
Can anyone please help?
Richard
