Hello Everyone!

My first post here.

I just bought a 2005 Ducato 244, 2.8 JTD. The previous owner added led lights in the loading area. However, whatever he did means that all internal lights (in the cabin and in the loading area) only work when the ignition is on. Same for the radio, only works when the ignition is on. Moreover, the internal ceiling cabin lights do not work using the switches (ignition on and off, engine on and off), they only go on when the doors are open. I had a look at eLearn and I can more less figure out the diagram, I am simply not certain where to start.

Oh, one more thing, head and tail lights - if I leave them on and turn the ignition off, they turn off as well. At first I thought that he managed to completely isolate the battery on ignition off, but the internal ceiling lights do go on when I open the door even with ignition off.

Any pointers much appreciated!

Have a good look all around the vehicle for non-factory wiring , see where he's tacked into the main loom for the new lights.

It may give you valuable insight into how he did what he did, might be better to remove (or at least disconnect and remake good) the mods and start from scratch

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
1. Interior lights should NOT require ignition on, but the supply is routed via the switch control panel which is a "black box" as far as the internal connections are concerned, but there may be a time out function in there. (At least there is for the demisting control.) To improve cab lighting LED festoon bulb replacements.
2, The radio does require ignition on, but this can be fixed.
3. The OEM internal lights should work on courtesy via the door switches, or via a selectinon on the integral switches. If original fitting has been removed, te this facility would be lost, but perhaps the original wiring is still there to reuse.
4. If you can divine what happens inside the switch control panel you are doing well.
5. By headlights do you mean side lights and tail lights. If required for parking hold in black button immediately below ignition key, turn key past off position and remove as required. side and tail lights should stay on.
6. Normal for headlights to require ignition on.

I have attached eLearn E2510 for the interior lighting unfortunately for you I have scrubbed the load area lighs to make room for other info. The ignition switch diagram sames mind bending convolutions with the parking lights. To use it just note that there is a circuit across the switch where a black square is shown.
