I have just successfully replaced the timing belt on my motor home with a 244 chassis.

Is there an easy way to get to the top alternator tension adjuster bolt. I think I may have over tighten the belt. I want to recheck it but can't find any info on how tight it should be. It seems almost impossible to get to the 13mm adjuster nut from underneath. Am I missing an easy trick to get at it .

Adjustment is not easy. From memory you need the engine under-cover removed. and a socket with a long extension. I have a note that access was from the wheel well, and over the drive shaft As for belt tension, I counted the turns on the adjuster both ways, as well as checking belt deflection on longest run when pressure applied. About 1/2" total deflection is usually deemed to be a good approximation. The belt should not be like a bowstring.
