Engine revs started to be hesitant which gradually gotworse! Sometimes when changing gear the revs would briefly go to maximum! Atone point I couldn’t rev the engine at all but tick over seemed to be unaffected! Trollingthough the Fiat Forum I found a post from Kevin Adam who had the same problemand suggested the plugs and sockets behind the passengers dashboard be cleanedwith contact cleaner. This cured myproblem.
Brilliant!

Post update,
To fix the intermittent throttle problem I just cleaned the 6 pin plug and socket contacts that's located next to the fuse box behind the dash. This only lasted about a year and the problem started again!! This time I did what Kevin Adam did and cut the plug and socket out and soldered the connections. Have now completed a 350 mile trip and all is ok. Lets hope this gives a complete repair.

Babybel,

Good of you to post the update. As a 2.8JTD was mentioned, I took a keen interest.

On consulting eLearn appropriate to my x244 2.8JTD, I found that the offending connector does not appear in the wiring. The wires from the accelerator pedal potentiometer are routed directly to the engine front coupling (D004A). This connector is located under the engine bay fuseboard.

It seems therefore, that the 6 way connector is only used on x230 vehicles. Draw your own conclusions.
