Hi all, i have a Ducato 2.8 JTD 2004 8140.43s engine and am looking for info regarding the rev counter connection. The van is actually a 1995 2.5 diesel motorhome which has had an engine transplant inc wiring from a 2004 2.8jtd. (All done by previous owner) When the engine was replaced, the prevous owner also replaced the speedo with a new unit with one that has a rev counter but the donor van did not. As a result, the rev counter has never worked.

If i can identify the pin out from the ecu for the rev counter, will i be able to run a wire from that to the rev counter input and bring it to life. If so does anyone know what the pin out number and possibly wire colour would be from the ecu and pin connector number on the rear of the rev counter. Im sure the rev counter side will be easy to identify. Or does anyone have a schematic i can look at.

Thanks very much, Mark

Hi Mark,

For diagrams eLearn for x244 series Ducato is available in the downloads section. However if my memory serves it is a compressed .rar file format.

Lots of info errors hidden in there! Using eLearn has been described as "like peeling the layers off an onion". The pinout of the ECU, complete with errors in pin numbering sequence, is buried in a description of the engine management.

For your specific query, the signal route is as follows.

ECU (M10)/A47--Bk/Gn--D004A/A01--Bk/Gn-D001A/C08--Bk/Gn--E050/D10

Connector D004A is under the engine bay fusebox.
More vaguely connector D001A is the "Front Dashboard Coupling". It is I think, located behind the LHS cab fuse panel.
E050 is the instrument panel.

Thanks "Communicator" all info graciously received. Yes i have had dealings with e-learn manuals in the past with Renault vans and i totally agree they can be a minefield to navigate.
I will have a good go at tracing the lines. Thanks again, Mark
