Driving other vehicles at 20 years old

Hey all, i've always had this since 17 with quinn, but i'm after a BMW now and they wont insure me on it until i'm 21, even though it's slower than my current car

I need to drive other cars but can't find anywhere that will insure me to drive other cars at my age, anyone know of any?

Nope, think Quinn is the only one, all others you have to be 25, hence why I love Quinn more than my last insurer

look into some specialists...performance direct?/ sabre (i think phone quotes only though) and there should be a few more...they are usually a little cheaper, could try LV to...

the escort is with performance direct, they wont insure me as a named drive on the escort until 21 so they wont do the beemer, ill take a look cheers

nah you need to be 25, just called 'em.

£950 for a 10 month policy was bad enough but i'd have taken it if i could drive other cars.. argh

There were whispers last year insurance companies were being a bit tougher with regards to the people under 21 driving ''bigger'' cars/other cars

Looking at this thread alone seems to say the whispers were true

yeah, sorry meant to add that it seems they've changed policies. i knew recently they'd bumped the charge for DOC from the £6 i'd paid to over £150 - now it seems they don't do it.

for years as far as i knew quinn wqere the only people, can get a cracking e36 though or the cash

HIC used to do it, as did CIS - and that's all i can find on other forums i use!

i'll take a look, just this BMW is perfect for what i want, it's cheap, looks good, cheap and it's an automatic and a RWD. if i can't drive other cars i'm stuck though

might be onto something with HIC, they say in the booklet that if the cert says so you may drive other vehicles and any person with my permission may drive mine, doesn't mention age though and it's too late to call

strange, i got a quote with them like 2 months ago when my insurance renewed and they said i could have it for £50ish and im 20, well 19 when i got the quote.

They are being a bit stricter on it. Last year on works fleet policy i was covered to drive everything this year no company would insure me on 4 of our cars at work. Even last years insurers.

hmm, i'm just thinking if my dad got covered with HIC, they cover anyone to drive his car and it would only be a couple of hundered, still wouldn't be able to drive other cars though, maybe my policy on the escort wouldnt be so bad
