does anyone service there own car?

as title really, just i cant stand paying garage bills for somthing i know i could do myself! me brava has been serviced 6 times now and getting a bit expensive. (1/2 years old)

fiat gave me a qoute of 63 quid to change my gearbox oil, i have never had this done to any of the cars i have owned, but i intend to keep me brava for a while.

I always have serviced my own car because of the way I drive it on occassion, I change the oil, oil filter, spark plugs and clean the air filter every 6 months without fail.

I can do the lot for under £40 using good quality oil etc.

Worthwhile doing IMO.

what do you do? engine oil,plugs filters,g-box oil etc what oil do you use? have or do you ever do a engine flush? thanks

Always serviced my car every 6000 also, use fully synthetic, get the K&N Cleaned, bosch super 4's, oil filter for far less than what you can take to to a garage for where they use probaby only the basic components

never done an engine flush on my bravo, I tend to use magnatec, gearbox oil was changed 1000miles ago when I had the cambelt changed at powerfiat.
I provided the GB oil and they changed it whilst it was on the lift, cost £10.

had a service from fiat just under six months ago, was trying to get a new qoute for my next service, when i said plugs would not need changing they said " it has been 6 months and they could need doing" what a load of ****! i have only done about 4000 miles and they knew this. please tell me they are yanking my leg,

i had a old pug 205 1.1 and i NEVER did anything to it in the 18 months i owned it and it just ran and ran

I have serviced my own cars for the last 55 years. The spark plugs should last at least 25,000 miles. I do 6 monthly service, oil, filter, etc, Check brakes etc, Parking brake cable (especially after the winter).
