Dodgy Rear Passenger Side Indicator

Hello all,

Quick question which I hope you can help with. I have a 1998 Bravo 1.4. Im having great difficulty with my rear left indicators and other lights in that cluster.

When I indicate left, my front and side indicators work fine but the rear brake lights flash instead of the indicator.

When I press the brake, the indicator light comes on steady. All very messy and confusing for people going behind me!

Have checked the connections on the rear light cluster and all are fine. Cleaned them down and checked for shorts etc.

Have changed the fuses for the indicators and checked the wiring on the back of the fuses and all seems fine. So Im guessing on a short somewhere between fusebox and rear lights. Any idea what path the cabling takes and if there are junction boxes along the way that I can check and maybe sort this.

Many thanks in advance,

Simon

Re: Re:Dodgy Rear Passenger Side Indicator

i had this problem, the bulbs in the rear cluster are on a sort of circuit board inside the light and somehow i'd managed to short curiut it and burn a hole one in it, which meant one of the metal strip crossed with another, which inturn cause the malfunction. (excuse all the technical terms :))

hope this all make makes sense and helps.

Thanks very much Trev and Rich,

Did some work today and found the earth strap to be a bit grimy but ok. Then found a burnt area just on the light cluster where the connector clicks on. Bit of work with a soldering iron and all is good again.

Many thanks again,

Simon
