I think I've finally sorted poor headlight performance in my Tipo. Basically the driver's side main beam would usually not work reliably and swapping the bulb didn't fix it. Then I noticed one side if the plastic 3-pin connector had overheated and aged so it wasn't holding very tight. This problem affects the black wire's connector - 0v or "ground". You can't buy the whole connector easily, so I managed to snap off the burnt plastic bits around the black wire's spade connector, attach the black wire to the bulb directly and clip the rest of the connector over it and in place as normal. However I also suddenly got really dim light from the other lamp - yes you've guessed it, that connector had gone exactly the same way!

My local fiat guy had a Tempra and Uno for breaking, the Tempra's connectors had failed exactly the same but the Uno's were fine, so I've taken them, I've just cut the wires and choc-blocked them together with some tape around them. What's funny is the actual wires on the Uno are much thicker than on the Tipo / Tempra.

Anyway it's worth checking these if you've got the time (or problems), I don't know why the "black" connector should be the one to overheat and fail, but that's what happens.

BTW, isn't working on the offside light unit an absolute pain in the fingers!

I did exactly the same with my black tipo. Both connectors were 'burnt' and I swapped them with much thicker wired Uno connectors. Basically kept about 10 inches of uno wire and stripped, soldered and heatshrinked to the original tipo wiring.

Sedici drivers light is being a bit dodgy so might have to go uno hunting :D
