my 07 plate 19 tdi failed the taxi test today, the mechanic said oil was getting into the engine somewhere and he could see smoke so he didn,t bother with the emissions test,he also said that when he turned off the engine the engine was still running for a sec,i bought a reconditioned dpf thanks to this website a couple of year ago and its still working, every now and again it starts cleaning itself and there is a lot of smoke then the engine starts to get erratic ,once cleaned or if I switch the engine off and on the engines ok,when I switch it off it doesn't stop immediatly,i was wondering if maybe the dpf started cleaning while he was testing it,my garage has had a look at the turbo and said its ok but there is a small amount of oil in it,my garage has had my doblo several times the last month for minor stuff and have never witnessed the engine still running after being switched off, this car has really served me well 187000 on the clock same clutch and gearbox and the dpf at £350 is the biggest repair bill I have had, this is its last test and if I don't get the problem fixed by Friday ill be off the road all weekend:(

When you switch the engine off the throttle flap closes to cut off the engines air supply, then reopens for starting procedure. I would check to see if this is happening as it's a quick test and costs nothing.

As for the oil (is the level over MAX on the dipstick?) i'm not quite sure what the tester ment by 'oil getting into the engine'.....it should be! Is the engine smokey, is that what he ment?

Worth giving car a blast down road with fuel system cleaner and then taking for test again?

my mechanic cleaned the turbo (council mechanic said it might be the problem?) put on a new oil filter put in some additives and told me to blast it,
passed the test Friday, im on a six month council taxi test so when it comes off in November it will be just under 7 years old, 188000 miles same clutch/gearbox (I am the only driver)biggest bill was a dpf £350 recon, other repairs were, 1 egr valve/1 heater (under warranty) 2 exhausts/ numerous door straps/ 2 window regulators 1 costing £120 from fiat the other £10 ebay, quite a few tyres but they are tax claimable/1 wiper linkage (£170)some money spent on the rear doors sticking which I learnt to fix myself thanks to this site/plus the usual brake pads wishbones etc,i bought this car as a wheelchair accessible cab from cab direct but they no longer convert these, looks like I will have to go for a peugeout premier (struggling to last 3 years in Dundee) but I will certainly keep my doblo as a private car, there are a couple of 04 plate doblos here (no dpf on them) and they are running very smoothly ,some of the older models are fetching more money on ebay than the newer dpf models:(
