Hi.

First forum post.

I have in the last few days bought a 2004 Doblo Cargo with 78k and full service history.

When pulling away or driving at low revs, I am getting what sounds like a belt squeal. Doesn't do it if I am at higher revs. I have checked the service book and the water pump and belt were replaced at 60k.

As the belt is hard to access (without removing a lot of stuff), was hoping some of you guys know what it might be / worth worrying about.

Cheers. :slayer:

In the "old days" the trick to temporarily cure a noisy alternator belt was to throw a handful of water at it whilst the engine was running - it doesn't need much, but it may show if it's the belt that is noisy.

I would suggest that it was the cambelt and water pump that were replaced, rather than the alternator belt. Cambelts are toothed and do not squeal, as they cannot slip, unlike an alternator belt (this may be a toothed belt, but it doesn't engage in any gear like the cambelt)

It may just be that your belt needs a little tightening up

Mike

Easiest way to eliminate an auxiliary belt issue is remove it and see if the noise goes , there are some wheels on the timing belt that run on the rear of the belt that have know get tight on various marques
