I think what you have is the bottom part of the pic...and you want to change it to the top of the pic???

daz mate that is perfect, do they exist ? or something similar to that ?

Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

Its called a ring crimp or ring terminal. What size do you need? (wire size and bolt hole size)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

my wire is quite thick i would say about 10mm diameter and the hole i want to make it into needs to be about 8mm diameter

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

Thats quite thick! 4 guage?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

yeah i think so, i threw away the power kit so to be honest i am not 100% sure but 4 gague sounds familiar

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

The core is about 6mm diameter? (10mm overall with the insulation?)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

yeah that sounds about right, obvioustly i cant measure exactly but i can take more detailed measurements tomorow morning, but i had a good look today and i am going by memory.

but yeah tom that sounds right

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

Yup, 4 guage or 20mm^2.

Ideally you need a big old crimp tool for these but you can just about get away with pliers, a hammer and a vice. :)

What you need is farnell part 269-001 (www.farnell.co.uk) £3 for 10 BUT there is a minium order of £10. You could try local car electrical places.

I don't have any that size.

just been looking on a few websites, this looks like what i am after, says it does it in a 4 gague as well, but would somewhere like halfords stock something like this ? or would i be better off mail order ?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

Helf do them I think but might only be the ripspeed ones. Any good ice shop should too.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

You can get a "crimp lug" from any elec wholesaler
Just tell them the size of cable and the hole size you want they should have thousands of these on there shelves.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

just measured my power cable and it is 7mm and that includes insulation

so what gague does this make it ? still 4 gague ?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: do these exist ? (ice question)

Yeah, 4. Its not small enough to be 8 guage.
