Bit of advice needed here. My old Skoda had a bad DMF and it rattled at idle like a marble in a tin car. Fast forward to my latest Ducato.. no rattle at idle at all, but when accelerating under load, just before 2k rpm or so, there is a bit of a clattery vibration briefly. Sometimes just a harsher vibration, sometimes more of a noise I think.
Is this something that is to be expected on an old diesel commercial van, or is the DMF on its way out?

I seem to be incredibly unlucky with my choice of vehicles..!

No you are not unlucky, you possibly worry a little bit.

Check all the exhaust mounts, especially any parts welded to the exhaust.

Multipla diesels fracture the weld on the first mount that's welded to the exhaust as you look front to rear , at certain revs(resonant frequency of exhaust) the broken metal mount vibrates against the exhaust making a terrrrrible rattle/ clatter noise.

If you don't find anything loose don't worry there is probably something loose inside an exhaust box.

It's definitely coming from under the cab I believe. Also a bit of a clatter on shut down of engine.

I do worry a lot, which is my Achilles heel, I wish I could let go of things like this! I'll get my pal at the garage to have a drive and give his opinion when it goes in for the cambelt.
