Still have this problem switch checked and replaced with new one live on all pegs, fuses un damaged and power at fuses. What I am struggling with is finding the relay if this Trekking has one for the head lamps.

I have found three on the fuse board from left to right relay for heated rear window, next one indicators and last one wiper delay.

Two relays under hood for spi and fuel pump. So were the hell is the head lamp relay.

What I've broken down is power to slide lights switch but nothing to power up dip beam  head light main beam no problem.

temporary, you can play with the connectors on the dim dip resistor and make your dips come on with the side lights. just make a bit of cable with a spade connector on each end and use that instead of the resistor.

like i said though, you wont have "just" side lights any more. it will instantly give you dipped beams.

but it will be good enough for you to still drive the car fine till the issue can be fixed.

Hi allen fletcher

Had a look at the loom - there was nothing which looked like a dim/dip resistor on the path from the headlamps to the fusebox and switch. Odd..

Have attached photos as requested of the fusebox and the wiring path. Do you have a wiring diagram? Looks like it's the green and green/black but I haven't looked at a diagram to check.

David

Hi David

Thank you for the photo's a great help we both agree on the wire colours, I have wiring diagrams in my Haynes, Porter Books and my official Fiat workshop manual.

Appears to be a dumb wiring system a auto electrician friend of mine is going to have a look for me today.

I think my way out would have been a new inline fused relay and use it to split up and feed both dip beams, just means if fuse blows both light fail no worse than what I have now. Or fit two relays.

Regards Allen

Were they not dropped like on most other models after about 1997/1998?

Allen does yours have dimdip from memory?

When I get home tonight I'll post up some details on the relay for you (y) (although looking at Davids photo its the middle one with 73389 on it iirc).

Ok big thanks to David, Dragon man and Most Easterly Pandas. update lights working again. What auto electrician did confirmed my findings a break in the wire from the fuse box through the fire wall. This could have been one hell of a job to sort out ie dash out totally and dropping out and down my horrible temperamental fuse board.

Repair carried out live feed taken from back of slide light switch via an inline fuse, run new wire through fire wall connect back into wiring harness jobs a good one.

I would like to know what that middle relay does, I thought it just did the indicators and hazards? I'm learning all the time even at 61 still plenty to learn.

What I did find out the dip beam wires split up after the fire wall and not at the fuse board, but why to fuses for dip beam, I'll have to look at what David removed from the L/H/D Panda Country to figure that out. I hope to draw up or improve the wiring set up shown in the standard car repair books.

The problem I have the Trekking is 2000 build and the books don't go that new and cover the central locking, power lift windows and servo adjust windows the Trekking's got as standard equipment.

MOT next job
