Good evening! Could anyone possible help. I'm finding it a struggle to put the car into each gear as it's driving along. I have to wiggle the stick to get it into each gear and sometimes I have to put a lot of force into it, I don't get any bad noise from it, just seems to be awkward. Any ideas would be appreciated. it's an f reg Uno 60S.

Freddy does the same sometimes, usually when he's cold. If it's not crunching then it doesn't sound like a 'box problem. If the Fiat 'box is anything like a mini one, then a change of grade of oil might help. Or could be something to do with the clutch ??

When Freddy's a bit stiff, I find it sometimes helps to pump the clutch pedal a couple of times before trying to put it in gear again. That sometimes helps :D

Got a similar problem with 3rd on mine (J 60s), although not all the time. Just suddenly happened and now comes back when you least expect it. Finding reverse was a challenge sometimes too, although no force needed.

When I changed the gear oil it briefly disappeared, but its coming back on 3rd (reverse fine). Told its the synchromesh, although I find it hard to believe all 5 of your 'meshs have gone??

3rd always had a mild grate on it so it did seem plausible.

Hi! I don't have a solution for your problem but would just like to inform you that I face the same predicament when shifting from 3rd to 2nd gear (Uno Hobby 1.1 ie). This was especially a problem in the freezing cold, the 2nd gear was absolutely stubborn at times and I had to use force at times in order to make it go in, but there was no noise whatsoever. Of course while parked the gear stick would move perfectly.

Common Uno to have a s**tty 2nd. Especially down-gearing from 3rd with adequate speed. So don't do it, and never force it when cold. Rather "lurk" it into gear - just as sex.
