Hi guys from Australia, Just looking on the site at the Panda thread and was wondering was the Panda ever sold in an Automatic?

It would've been great in auto I think?

just looking on the net I can see they come only to some countries. Did they get sold in the UK? Were they popular and what were the gearboxes like?
they look fantastic fun. No wonder the Panda was more popular than the Fiat 126 and FSM Niki.I want a Panda.

They're selling in UK, continent and maybe in other places like Japan, as that gearbox was made in Japan (I think by them).

The gearbox is an unusual CVT (belt) design with a electricity activated clutch. Basically, I would say they are a sound design and work well. Having no gears, a good condition one is very smooth to drive.

Above is correct. They make great and very nippy Auto's and I absoloutly love them!

Get a Jap one and you'll get things like aircon etc also iirc.

In the UK they're unfortunatly becoming a rare sight though, as is the Panda full stop.

Jon.

we have two did have three but lost one in my mates barn fire. They are one hell of a car I can not get my wife out of hers. it is one of the best things I have ever bought except for a number of 4x4 Pandas we own.

Cheers MEP :) This has reminded me of a ride I had in Chris Watsons Selecta. It was like an allotment shed motivated by something deeply complex and technical.

:ROFLMAO: OMG PMSL :p :)

...that was a top speed of 76mph when new, I'm sure they lose mph as they get older :)

Selecta is the only Motor I've ever got a speeding ticket in! (although only in a 30 zone), but believe you me when I say it easily keeps up with the outside lane! (the 1108cc this is) :)

Ours didn't we had ours in the fast lane of the M2 doing a fair amount more than that. was quite funny as people were actually breaking and doing double takes when we went screaming passed :)

:yeahthat: :)
