General Dessy the black Cinq sporting.

I thought I would a thread about my newly acquired Cinq (Dessy). I bought it off a fellow member (Chetti), which meant it already had the FF sticker! So far I am really pleased with her. I have repaired the hole in the exhaust, so my ears no longer bleed, sorted the ariel, painted the orange strips in a speckled graphite and tinted the rear lights (I need some clear side repeaters, should anyone have a spare pair, expect a PM). I have given her a thorough check and ordered some goodies ready for the MOT in May. For the moment I am just enjoying my first Cinq, I read somewhere that they were more 'raw' than a Sei and I definitely agree. I love it! My plan eventually is to go 16v, whether it will be 1.4 or 1.2 is undecided, but first I will go through the rest of the car (suspension, brakes, wheels, interior, etc) before swapping the engine, I may as well use the 62k motor it has in. Anyway, here are some pictures of here before and after the paint and tints. Enjoy and let me know what you think! Thanks.

I think it was a mod virgin. Not anymore! I love the way Betty looks, given me some ideas for her.

next subject matter, for the suspension I am thinking: Apex lowering springs -30, bilstein b4 shock absorbers and strongflex bushes all round (yellow ones). Anyone any experience with any of the above? I have read plenty of reviews, all of which are mixed.

Also, I have an intermittent oil light. It will light up when you start it (obviously) then disappear after a few seconds. However, it will come back on if you rev it above 4,000rpm and then disappear again. Am I right in saying the the leak in the rocker cover and the sump (both need new gaskets) could cause this? It isn't losing much oil and the light only started once I topped it up. Thanks.

Also, i have experience of strongflex bushes, i have them all around. I can strongly recommend them if you want your car to handle better, have a little less roll and turn a lot sharper, but it will make the ride a tad stiffer and bumpier.

It wasn't black when i got it, it was yellow, and i got it all at different times, mainly because i couldn't source a whole kit together.

Not really a worthwhile update but anyways.

I got Dessy some new shoes! It was great to meet a fellow FF member and even better that they supplied me with these beauties.

They are 14" x 6J. In need of a refurb as they have been hammerited (by hand) but that will be done soon enough, they are going the same colour as the strips, Graphite.

I have some goodies to go on this week: handbrake cable, smoked side repeaters, window tints, rocker cover gasket, flexi pipe. Get her ready for her MOT and for Stanford hall too.

I also have the opportunity of a 1.2 16v from an S reg punto. Am I right in saying this is the one I want (for the easiest conversion)? I will be getting the ECU and loom too, if all goes to plan.

Those wheels look fantastic

Easiest conversion you can do is the 1.2 8v, the 16v has more power but has different issues to fit.

I'd have a nosy through the engine swap FAQ's if I was you, to decide what you want

I love the wheels! They should look the db's in graphite.

I had considered going 8v but this engine has come along local to me at a good price and it only has 64k. So I am considering the extra work just for the bargain if nothing else. The plan was to go 16v with this one anyway so I'd kinda like to go ahead with it. I have searched through some of the threads and given them a read. But it's fairly difficult on my phone - mainly because I have a really old phone so I can't update to the newest version.

64k is quite good on an s reg punto, and it nearly matches your cars current mileage, which is a bonus. It's not an overly difficult conversion, I reckon you'll be fine then!

This was my thought process too. If I know the exact mileage I could just go around the block a few times to match them!

Thanks blu, I will be sure to add everything to the shopping cart. It's mainly wiring that I am dreading. However, It's a summer plan, so I have a lot of time to plan, research, etc.

Another update:

Dessy decided she no longer wanted a cambelt and spat hers off! Perfect timing as I start my new Job tomorrow and was relying on her. The belt hadn't snapped (luckily), the tensioners bearings collapsed and it slipped the belt. The casing had unclipped and was rubbing against the belt as well. Luckily, I was at my brothers at the time, so we managed to get another tensioner to fit until I can get a new one tomorrow - Full kit. Is it worth doing the water pump while I'm at it?

i dreaded the wiring but tbh its really simple if you have the punto loom, only need to extend a few wires and sort the D4 out and jobs a good'un.

lol.. well i just used the guide on here and cross referenced with some posts by ycming. I missed an earth but other than that mine worked first go once i bolted that earth on. I don't really want to unwrap all my wiring but i think i have what i did scribbled on a bit of paper somewhere. But like i say, its just copied off here anyway.
