Hi guys, I guess a consequence of the billies is bottoming out the car on garage exits. Well I have a problem exiting my garage without bottoming out my car in that I have hit a few times the right front jack stand area from bottoming out the car just behind the wheel.

I am attaching photos. Do you think this damage is serious?

I have found a way to exit the garage (by turning the wheels leftwards while exiting) so that this doesn't happen again. I am just worried about the damage to the bottom of the car around the jack stand area.

Any advice would be apprieciated.

As long as there is no rust, and the doors still fit fine, this should not be a problem. However, if you keep hitting it, you will eventually weaken the area, maybe causing the metal to split.

Options include refitting the standard suspension, to regain the original ride height, or to remove the bump exiting the garage. Without seeing the drop or surrounding area can't be specific, but some blocks of wood, or a concrete ramp are possible options.

adjust the suspension up a bit

That damage is purely cosmetic - tbh I've seen far worse after just a brief encounter with a trolley jack.

It does highlight just how vulnerable the 500 outer sills are; they'll dent under even a very light load.

Your post also highlights the increased risk of grounding with a lowered car.

Thanks for the reply guys. The car bottoms out only when leaving a certain garage that has a very aggressive bump so I wont change the suspension.
I have figured out a way to avoid bottoming out the car by turning left aggressively just before the bump!
So it wont happen again.

Thank you again guys so I wont worry but will be careful on the bumps = )
