ive took out a new insurance policy where im declaring my mods.
its not a bad price, car is now fully in my name (used to be in my dads with me as a named driver), im the main driver and my dad is a named driver cos he likes to thrash her about every now and then :p im 22, a girl, licence 1 year with no real no claims but been a named driver for 3 years (2 with a provisional) and a pass plus...
inculding declaring all mods its gonna be £630 a year

they've sent me a form to detail the mods.

so far ive got:
alloys
HID's
GSR
remap (although will they REALLY know??)
lowering
tints

now... do i need to declare the stuff like HGT leather, skirts, spoiler... etc etc??? theres a section on the form saying about body but just asks if any pannels have been changed to fiberglass or carbon or anything... which isnt the case with this car cos everything is OEM and isnt fitted with a silly fibre glass body kit

it also says about transmission... does the fact i have a punto 60 g'box need to be stated? or is that just for stuff like shortened linkages or whatever?

Yes they need to be told - the car is more desierable (that's that they will say) and non-standard so they are insuring something different to a factory standard model.

Transmission wise just leave it - it makes no odds.

I would'nt tell them about the hids as they could have been standard on the car unless its really old lol.

Tell them EVERYTHING, in writing. For small claims you would probably get away with not mentioning the remap, but if they are faced with a big payout they will check for it. Especially as you have a fair number of other mods.

If you hit someone and disable them for life, the insurance bill could be in the millions.

:yeahthat:

Did you know the cost in total resulted from each road death is £1 million per person. So if a car load of people is wiped out it out be £5 million

So the insurance company will try anything to get out of paying that!

Jon.
