got home from work last night as usual, got the call that everybody dreads.

strange number calls the phone,

"hi central scotland police here, can you meet us at stirling royal, your wife has had an accident, the ambulance is on its way."

got there to see the wife been carried out of the ambulance on the back board, covered in blood and muck.

she had hit a large patch of standing water on the m 9.

luckily a nurse,a doctor and a retired policeman were following and helped here at the scene.

she will be okay, but looks very secondhand, cuts, bruises and an abrasion to her cornea.

went to get some stuff from the car today and this is what I found.

hopefully the pics will make any of the folks on here take a bit more care this winter.

glad to hear your wife's got out of it reasonably okay, mate

the cars done its job brilliantly in protecting her, if ever there was a reason to buy a 5-star rated n-cap car, the pics and the story shows it.

Holy fook  , hope she is alright? and hope that makes a good mend too, as i knew someone who crashed and survived but had issues with his knee after it (his knee wacked the dash/steer column).

I am one who is bad for never letting go of a car. If i crashed my car and it was left in a sorry state of affairs, i couldn't scrap it or let the insurance have it. I would have to take it home and keep it forever :)

Exactly...I remember watching an old episode of Top Gear when they were going through all the cars safety ratings to show you how much damage is likely at 30mph etc...not sure what cars they put through their paces but made for some shocking results. I think it's safe to say though that Fiat have got it spot on with the grande after seeing the photos!

Anyway, as above mate, all the best for a speedy recovery for your missus! Keep us posted! :smt023

Aye carumba! Hope the missus is ok!

I'm kinda wishing I hadn't looked at this though since I've got a drive down to Glasgow in a couple of hours, and then from there down to Cumbria tomorrow.

The Sei I think was only 2 stars in EuroNCAP, so I'll see you guys in heaven kthnxbai

good to hear that your mrs is ok matey, that looks like a nasty one

have to say we are both touched with what has been said,i have been showing her this thread and it does bring a tear to the eye.

I do 50 k miles a year, and guess who has slowed right down on the roads now.

gonna investigate that road section,as I think the road has not been maintained well, and battle comences with the insurance co.

cheers scott

How'd the inspection go? Any issues with the road that you could find?
