Styling De-badging

Hey everyone I have a fiat brava and i really like it but the back looks awful i was thinking of removing the badges to see if it looks any better and i was just wondering if anyone has done this and would u recomend it, if u have pics could u please show me so i can see what it look like before i do it thanx

Yup a few tips if you do a search, generally hot water and something like a spatula or something down the back that isnt going to damage your paintwork.

White spirit gets rid of the left over glue and dosent damage the paintwork.

i've heard white spirit can fade the paint, especially on metallic but petrol takes over tar like i've never seen before so you could try that on any adhesive and its not meant to do any damage. Thats what the lads said where i get all my bits sprayed!!

Yup thats meant to be good for removing abarth spoilers etc, unless it slips and you cut the replica one in half.

Mine was no differnt. (fiat ink black) on red cars where the paints started to fade it probably will be different but nothing that t-cut cant fix.:yum:

Yup possibly but t-cut or polish to blend. One of the things you need to weight up,.

I took my badges off. Boiling water and a fingernail did it. Tried to put a plastic spatula behind it but it was too flexible under the water. I poured boiling water over the badge. Then removed the water source and used my fingernail to prise one part of the badge off (so I mainly poured the water over one side), and then poured water over the badge as i held it off the car, so the water got behind the badge. Didn't leave a residue and the paint work was fine.

t-cut or polish wouldn't be strong enough if the paint has faded..you would need proper compound to blend that!!

I wouldnt imagine that the paint would be faded behind the badge in fact i would have thought the opposite. So blending it in should work.

i didn't say the paint under the badge would be faded. the paintwork on the rest of the car would obviously have faded..t-cut and polish work to a cetain degree but to get it perfectly blended you would need to use compound. on mine you can sometimes notice where the badge was..i have compound but always forget to do it. I'll wash it tomorrow and do it!

Yep, just done it myself, boiling water and a plastic fish slice, came off a treat.

Then plenty of t-cut to clear up the glue then Autoglym Super resin polish to finish it off, i think it looks much better without the badges

brake cleaner does the job well !
