Hi, I have a Fiat Panda 2005. One of the symbols on the dashboard lit up today. It is on the bottom row of 2 and it is shaped like a square with a wire coming out of the top horizontaly, which then goes into some wierd 6 or 7 sided shape. The manual doens't have a key to the symbols and I've no idea what it is? I would be very grateful for any help. Thanks

Closest I can think of for your description is this.

Dave.

what colour is the light? orange is a warning (low oil, battery, emissions etc) red tends to be more serious (abs fail, airbag fail, brake warnings etc).

Sounds familiar - see this post from a couple of days back:

You say 'the second row' of lights. Does this mean its a Panda Active, since on the other models the lights are arranged in 'curves' mainly around the bottom of the speedometer and the rev counter? I have the handbook for the 2005 Pandas and can't see anything that matches your description. If I scan the two pictures of the main dashboard layouts, maybe you can see it there?
Scan to follow shortly

Here's the scans -- which light are you seeing? (click the pictures to see them bigger). brookes745 may have answered it though. I can see how this could match the description -- although what it actually shows is a padlock with the car behind it -- and it lights up in orange. This is on the bottom row of the first picture, 3 along from the right and under the oil can. This light should come on for a few seconds when you first turn the key (along with one or two others). If it stays on, the car won't start -- the padlock shows that the immobiliser is still 'locked' and that the key or the sensor is misbehaving.

From the description it sounds like one of the symbols on the left hand dash scan (looks like the active cluster).

R/H side, second row of symbols, 4th from the left.

No idea what it is though, sorry!
