Hi everyone, new to the sight, posted a few days back but had no replies. Please someone help me, ive looked at other posts and done all the things that have been sugested but still my fiat punto missfires on cylinders 3 and four. The engine managment light has now gone out but i did just find out it had been lit for around six months before i got it. I have changed plugs, leads, coils and fitted a new ecu and it just wont go. Any ideas be would really be appreciated. Could it have caused damage to the engine when its been running with a faulty ecu? If so what could it damage? please help me:cry:

If the car has been running with the EML on for the last 6 months or so, and all your replacement parts were good & correctly fitted, I'd hazard a guess that the catalytic converter has died due to unburnt fuel going down the exhaust. If you have the cash I'd suggest you take it along to a dealer for a session on Examiner.

Hi thanks for your reply. Ive had a tech guy round and he used a machine that pointed to random missfires.Forgive my stupidity but could a broken cat cause my car to missfire and are their any tests i can do myself to get a better idea if it is the problem. This is my first car and im new to driving so i really am cluless. Thanks samantha
