Mike Rutherford, in his article on poor car sales and the likely effect on future prices, made the following comment.

"Fiat deserves a prize for two of the most straightforward deals of 2010 - a Grande Punto 1.4 Sound three-door at £7,595 (instead of £9,785) and Panda 1.1 Active Eco at £5,995 (instead of £7,665), thereby making this little five-door the best sub-£6,000 car on the market - by some margin."

They are advertising them. I paid £6100 (without the colour) and thats without any haggeling. At the time my local dealers all had a list price of £7700 and I am not a haggler. This dealer in Birmingham had them for £6400 but got it for £6100 when the price came down. About five days after I bought it FIAT on their own website were advertising at £5995 but in reality you can get it cheaper still.

Fiatsupersaver are advertising it for £5600. Thats £5600 for a brand new car with electric windows, power steering, 12v, cd player, central locking, ABS, airbags and one which is also quite nippy and fun to drive.

It really does make a four year old Fiesta seem like very poor value.

£5600 is excellent value (y)

I can't say that I am a great haggler either. Fiat gave me a 20% discount as a driving instructor plus free Diamond Brite protection and I placed my order. Some people will play one dealer off against another - this is the way to get a good price but you have to be pretty hard-nosed to do it.

Yeah I just cannot be bothered doing it, buying a car is stressful as it is. I should also add that the Birmingham dealer drove the car up to Manchester without any questions or problems. Some of the dealers wouldn't do this.

I just didnt' fancy driving a brand new car 82 miles when I have only driven locally in the past

The cheapest dynamic seems to be £1100 more expensive making the Active very good value. The problem with the dynamic is then other more modern cars start to compete with the Panda. The 100HP is in a class of its own though because its so unique.

You let someone drive your brand new car? :D I was getting twitchy when the sales bloke insisted on driving it round the garage a few times for various things, thinking, nooooo, get off my lovely car! :D For some reason I just didn't trust him to be careful. I had to bring it back round the M25 and up the A1, absolutely horrible because I hate the M25, but a very good introduction to a new car. I stalled it at least twice just getting out of town. :D

When I got mine, the £5,995 was a national offer on the Fiat site, so I just paid that, plus extra for the nice paint. Couldn't get the garage to throw in anything on top, not even a set of mats. :D My local dealer wanted 12 weeks to get one in, and couldn't even tell me what would happen when it arrived after the offer closing date. The people I bought from said 4-5 weeks, then found they had one in stock, and I picked it up less than two weeks later.

Scardey Cat, it's just driving, get in the car and do it.

Not really, there is the Twingo GT.

All sporty Renaults are highly praised and are regarded as the best handling hot hatches out there. Personally for me though I havent liked how most of the new Renaults look. I dont like the Twingos interior with the centre speedo. The central rev counter looks trick though and shows you how much of a serious track car it is. The last Renault I liked was the cereal box 5 GT Turbo.

I paid £400 for New Orleans Blue but it seems they have discontinued now. I've only ever seen one other ten reg Panda Active in that colour and it was driven by an 80 year old :p

I've seen one or two, mine's that colour. :) It was the only Panda they actually had in my rubbish local dealers (diesel though). I thought seeing as I'd seen the blue and liked it, I'd have that rather than another colour that might look great in the book and awful on the car! :D

P.s. that's why it's called Tardis on Fuelly!
