Hi, The wife has a Bravo 1.4sx and has been complaining about a audible rattle whilst driving. I took the car for a run, and sure enough a noise like shaking a wooden marble in a wooden jam jar...does that make sense? It seems to be coming from the nearside rear corner, and changes when either window is opened. My first thoughts were the suspension, but the noise is there even on perfect tarmac. Having said that the rear nearside wheel does look like it's at a slight angle. Second thought was the rear inertia seatbelt. Any clues? as it's now driving me crazy.

It might be the catch for the rear seat back - it's a known problem area which can cause a knocking noise / rumble over uneven surfaces.

You need to add some insulation tape to the two round 'prongs' that the rear seat back latches onto. FIAT made them too 'slim' so there is a bit of movement there normally which causes the knocking / rumble.

The trick is to add enough tape to make the prong thicker but still allows the seat back to latch in place.

ps. there will still be a bit of movement so over time the tape will get eaten away and the knocking will return - but it's hardly a difficult fix LoL

Mysterious Rattles

Not a direct answer, but I had a metallic rattle coming from my tailgate. Removed the trim and low and behold, a loose metal bracket was bouncing about in their with no particular job to do.

Moral of the story, remove the door trim and have a look...all you need is care and patience, a screwdriver and an allen key. Theres a guide on this site for removing door cards.

Be prepared for the frustration of finding nothing though.

Had a rattle ffrom the rear for quite some time in mine. Knew mine was the heatshield around the backbox. Two of the mounting spots had corroded and was basically hanging above the box and clattering it on every vibration.

Now removed :)

Curious rattle No.2

Hi Folks

Wondering if any of you can help with a strange rattle sound coming from the front passenger side (or so it seems). The sound actually comes across as the same as when you put a playing card in between the spokes on a bicycle. You cannot hear it when the accelerator is depressed, only when you take yout foot off. We have looked underneath for anything that may have attached itself and also taken off what we thought was the offending wheel.
I am now completely stumped!

Any suggestions would be appreciated before I have to take it to my garage again.

Brava 1.4SX

Cheers

Roger

my car has a rattle, all because there is a bolt missing on my exhaust manifold Heat Shield so it loose as hell and makes a racket, ave look.

I have now been told that the diff bearings have gone and it's a new gearbox needed.
