crunches into first gear

hi, ive got a 155 hgt, ive had it for 3 months a,d ever since ive had it when you slow dow through the gears if you ae moving atall (i mean even just rolling) even with the clutch fully down it will not go into first gear, is this a clutch problem or a gearbox prob? is it any thing to worry about?

My car wont go into 1st until its at about 5 -10mph at most.

I wouldnt normally put mine into 1st if moving.

Driver problem, don't engage 1st when moving. There should be no need to anyway.

the syncro wont let it go into first when ur moving it stops you damaging the car(most cars have this) if you are rolling you should be looking for second not first! its not a rally car!!

Mine does the same, but it used to let me stick it in first while moving when I first got it, so i assumed a problem had developed while I had it.

It's stupid not being able to use first, you're going so slow the speedo doesn't show a speed (well 6mph cuz it's stupid), and you can hear the engine chugging away and struggling in 2nd, so u have to rev it up loads, and look like a tit in a car park etc.

Then learn to double de-clutch or drive in 1st or slip the clutch a bit.

tom i have driven a car with non synchro 1st if u dont get it right it will grind

my dad came up with a good term! if ya cant find it grind it! then proceded to clout me round the head for for grinding it (first time i drove it)

Double de-clutching doesn't help, so I end up dipping the clutch all the time.
