Hi peeps,
Are the Alternators / Power steering controllers on a 120BHP the same as the 150BHP models please, and are there other parts that can be used between the 2 outputs ?, mines a Automatic but the donor car is a manual if that makes a difference for the comparison.

Thanks for any advice

Right the the steering racks and power steering components are the same for the 8v and the 16v.

Now re alternators. Although the 8v and 16v have the same part number for the alternator they are not technically compatible as they will be rated differently. the 16v will be a 140 to 150 A unit and the 8v is likely to be a 70 to 100 A unit.

Unfortunately i don`t get a fault code and i have not got a reader to plug in, its all rather odd though tbh, i used to do auto electrical way back when cars were not computers on wheels, and usually when a electrical fault occurs that's it, these seem to happen add hoc (for power steering) then miraculously return to life, it went for 2 hours last week, the Wife had to drive whilst we sorted out another unit, she locked the wheel full right and lo and behold, off went the light and power steering back..most odd .

As for Mrs Dave clearing up.. sounds as bad as mine, it can take months to find stuff again..if at all :)

Regarding part compatability then I can check models and part numbers to see if they are the same.

I've just updated my ePER parts catalogue to Version 68 (valid until end July 2012).

However to be absolutely certain I get information right I will need your verhicle(s) model number eg. 194 and your 8 digit chassis number.

For your security you should not post this info on the forum be send me an Email via the offical forum contact route.

Finally

As we all know part numbers can vary between say Croma A and Croma B but they are also possibly interchangeable. Interchangeability information will ony come from peoples personal experiences and is not part number driven.

If you do contact me then besides your info request please remind/nudge me to tell you:

Your Engine Number
Spares Number
Production Date

assuming you are interested in this info.

Nick

Sorry not been around for a while, Had the battery checked today though and it was only tested at 582 crank amps when it should have been 706 (or there abouts), 100% charge but 73 percent crank reading, so i have had it changed with a new one for a local battery specialist (as the Halfords battery listed is incorrect as to AH), I am going to have to get this diagnostic in for myself as i never know when i have to be Hospital :( , anyway S130, you have my thanks for the offer, i will get the seriel down tomorrow and PM you mate, always handy to know where to get spare parts.
