Out of the 34 Croma 20v's that appear to be on the UK roads, if I'm interested in picking one up and want to hold out for say, a black or red one with the light leather - am I wasting my time because all were silver or blue (all I have seen so far) do you think?

Is there any way to find out how many of a certain spec is around?

Also - did Malta or other RHD countries get many RHD Croma's and is it worth looking there?

Pie in the sky dreams of course, but one has to dream....

:D

Greg, There were very few metallic brown, and my colour jazz blue, not all had leather seats. As far as I have found South Africa and Australia didn't get them. I doubt Cyprus and Malta, and gibraltar was mainly used for Alfa grey imports. As there was virtually no market here for new Cromas I don't think this likely. I've never located any in India or the Far east.
My Croma has been quite good for 3 years, apart from a front spring break, but I only do about 5000 a year.

Can't say I've ever seen a Croma of any type in black. Dark grey, red, beige, silver, blue yes, but not black. Not many around with leather though, I'd say less than half of what's out there. You may be in for a long wait

As for other markets, suggest you contact Fiat UK?

There are currently a grand total of 34 2.4 Prestigios registered in the UK (was the 2.4 only available as Prestigio?).

Divide 34 by the number of colours available, divide this by 2 or 3 as leather was an option, divide by 2 to eliminate black leather, divide by 3 to eliminate the shagged ones, divide by 10 as most aren't for sale. And you're left with... nought point bugger all chance of finding one.

You have to be grateful for what you can get with a Croma.

A broken one you say Dave???? Still for sale???....

Thanks all, I have written to Fiat and will post what they say.

I guess I just don't like silver so much but as you say I could paint one. To do it properly is a LOT of work though. How about buying a tatty petrol with a decent interior and buying a LHD 2.4 with a good spec/colour and converting it to RHD? Not that much of a task on the cars I have stripped so far, all the bits come off in 2 days so far. Colour change is 2 weeks work to do properly (start by removing every panel and all the glass, all the trim, all the lights.....)

Greg.

Popular for touring cars and interesting. Not as scractch resistant as paint though (it's soft) and obviously the door hinges/shuts/underbonnet etc are a bit of a problem to wrap...

Anyhow I like the red and I think the blue ;-)

you dont get stone chips though they just bounce off, and if you did get a scratch in it you just have to wrap that pannel again.

i did want a black one but settled for the metalic dark grey, they look nice polished, and doh't show up the dirt as much as gloss black.

here is mine

That looks really nice! So you want to sell it to me for £2900 right... ;-)

I'm impressed by the grey it's quite nice.

Q a little off topic, I love the dash layout and quite like the looks but part of the reason I am interested (other than the diesel engines/6-speed auto boxes) is that I'm 6'4 and nearly every car I don't have enough head and leg room. I hear the Croma is 10cm taller than most - does that equate to 5cm morme headroom and legroom - is it a good choice for tall people?

I can't sit in any car that has a sunroof really - the drop in interior roof height for the mechanism causes the problem. Is the sky dome an issue?

Greg.

I'm also 6'4" with a long body and can't fit in most cars. The Croma is fine, other alternatives are the Ford Galaxy & S-Max and Skoda Yeti.

I work on galaxy's regularly... they also suffer from the sloping A piller blind spot which drives me crazy. And are another size up, you can't throw them round town for sure though they handle well enough on a run in the sports version (I picked one up for a friend and regularly drive it). Auto boxes poor, only 1.9 diesels and a nightmare to get round the engine bay. Though a useful tool if you need the space.

Yeti - could be interested, but it's small. S-Max, got the sloping front thing again... Did look a a C-Max 1.6 CVT supposed to be 50mpg but it's slower than my current car and half the point was I was hankering after a multi......

I'm just a mere 6'2", but height was the main reason we got our Croma. There's loads of headroom, even with the sunroof (I have the Skydome roof).

It's also dead easy to get in and out of - you almost walk into it. Getting into a "normal" car feels like I'm curling myself into a ball and rolling onto the ground.

I always wondered why I got so knackered and achy driving tiddly cars in the past.

And by the way - you don't see the outside when you're driving it! Get one in any colour, drive it and enjoy.

Now this, is the kind of comfort I'm after. It's what I can't get out of a 3 series, or an Alfa. Yes I like the noise, punch and mpg of the 3.0 I-6 but I have figured I also spend a lot of time in speed camera zones, city traffic and doing jump in/out urban work where I just don't get the comfort I would like. I did manage to stretch my legs out in a C220cdi which was impressive, though no one can sit behind me and the boot is cramped.

I may have to see if any are for sale round Nottingham just so I can get an idea of fit, even if they are not diesel/suitable.

I bought the black one off bay...........dont laugh!!!!!...didnt pay the price he was asking...........

The leather is superb and the interior is immaculate........agree about black, it shows every ounce of road grime and marks

The gearbox isnt broken........It is the transmission ECU that had failed....the transmission is perfect.......

I had the ecu repaired and it drives like a dream.....just going to remap it thats all.........

Needs a bit more grunt........

I looked for a 2.4 model but could not find any with leather or in a nice colour so settled for a 1.9 so it could be remapped to 200bhp.....

This is the second croma and i love em..........
