On another thread on inductions (primarily for a 1.4 - there is a few of us left out there (y)) I discovered that the best performing induction setup was to fit a GSR (I would chance it) - but these are no longer available :(. A lot of the 100hp drivers are now making their own of the same design. By making one of your own it could be simplified by using a crankcase breather. I did eventually find the steps to be taken to reset the ECU (y) for the additional breathing (which I was not doing correctly) and I'm happy to share this with you - this avoids having to have a remap (which cannot be done on the ECU of the Panda because it is locked). Current regulation do not allow road going cars to have crankcase breathers . Now once you look at how to get around this, 'oil catcher' comes up and and now you have ones which have an integrated breather. Some state that the benefits of the crankcase breather give an extra 2bhp (of course on slightly bigger engines) but more importantly it can prolong engine life allowing the engine to expel sludge and vapour which breaks the oil down. With the recent threads on 'stated' service intervals (Abarths) and reliability I though it would be topical. I know there is a few of you out there that are into tinkering a bit with with a lot of 500s now coming out of warranty or no longer having a blemish free service history - I thought this might be of interest as a little mod that wouldn't break the bank and could prolong engine life. P.S. there is a youtube of an italian guy doing a breather on an A500 but I thought it would be inappropriate to include it on the 500 section :D.

For anyone who is considering fitting a crankcase breather I have 3 for free - there are 20mm & one of them is blue.
Will happily post it out to anyone in my own country or to the uk. They will just sit in the garage and go astray. Would be looking for a bit of feedback as to how you got on with it.
The one in the picture is one of them but this has recently being changed to a bigger one.

Note that they are illegal but from another thread on the FF it would appear that they are getting through MOTs. If you were stopped you would need to be in position of 're-instating' the car so you might just get away with a little fine.;)

Unsure of the effect of them on a NA but on a turbo charged engine they make a bit of a hissing sound and supposedly improve the octane rating of the fuel. Also adds 1% of power but that might be in a particular set of circumstances and possibly on a different car / motorbike.:)

For an A500 it would need to be 25mm so they are too small for that model.

No takers so far. Colour choice is still there.

You might need the following...

An elbow so that the breather is flat i.e. facing up and a jubilee clip (there is a plastic one on the breather. Plus something to block up the hole from the original connection.

I'll claim the blue one if that's ok? Would be interesting to see what the effect is on the n/a 1.4. PM me for details and I'll paypal you the post :)

I've put that blue one to 'one side' for you. Just PM a name & address - it doesn't need to be your own - a third party name & address is fine and I'll just mark in c/o. Postage will be small and I can 'write it off' so no need for paypal. I doubt it will make any difference on a NA but it makes for a simpler CAI setup.
On the MiTo I got this one and it supposedly improves the octane of the petrol which the 155TB can benefit from since it works best on 98 octane.

Do you still have one left ? If so would like to try it out.

This thread is a few months old. I'm not sure loveshandbags is still around on the forum. I'm sorry to say he had 'words' with another member some weeks ago and has not been heard from since.
