Can someone please explain to me why Fiat Ducato spares are so expensive?
I understand that the 2.8JTD is an Iveco engine.
How can I cross reference to get cheaper spare parts?
Any hints or tips welcome.

What evidence have you that Fiat spares are expensive? I would say they are cheaper than a lot of others. Example 2 wheel cylinders for Ducato Maxi €40. Master Cylinder €65. Pads and Shoes €60

You may have thought you bought the vehicle and paid for it, but that was just the 1th installment.

Fiat supplied parts in Oz are about 4 times the cost of the exact same part from other suppliers. A top quality oil filter costs up to $24.00 which is exorbitant, but Fiat want $84.00 for theirs, and a bottom radiator hose is $90.00 + whereas $31.00 is what I paid.
The list goes on. A few external engine parts cost me less than $30.00 whereas Fiat wanted $165.00 for the very same items.
A water pump in Oz is over $1100.00 plus fitting at $5,000.00. I bought a genuine pump for $190.00 and had it fitted in under 4 hours but I've already had a whinge about that one.

Have you tried looking up 'cross reference parts for fiat ducato' ?
I think you may have some luck over there since these things are so common and there are some manufacturers who won't gouge you like Fiat does.

You can get the part numbers on eper, fiat forum have an old copy online but its troublesome eper.fiatforum.com

You can also download torrents of the eper dvds and install it on your computer.

Once you have the part number an easy way to cross reference common parts like service, brake, engine parts, clutch etc is if you google the part number and yoyopart.

e.g. yesterday I was looking for a clutch:
https://www.google.ie/search?q=9467558480+yoyopart

When you click through to yoyopart scroll down and they will usually have the main brand and citroen and peugeot numbers.

In general you'll be able to parts for 1/3 to 1/2 the price by checking iveco, citroen and peugeot.

Fiat jacked up the prices between 2008 and 2010 some parts I had bought doubled in price.
