Anyone know how to copy protected CDs?

I've just tried IsoBuster and the result is awful!!
Although, this software is really for getting data from corupted discs, it is supposed to be able to copy protected CDs.

Purchase a piece of software called "The Original Disc" by "The Original Artist"

Works every time and those who created the CD get paid too. New and exciting concept ;) ;)

I tend to use alcohol 120%, I take it they are pc data cd's you are copying seeing as your using iso buster?

Re: protected cd

Thanks for that piece of advice Rob, but I already have that CD. In fact it is that CD which I am trying to copy, AND for my own use. ;)

Re: protected cd

Nigel, I know IsoBuster is primarily for data discs, but I saw an article which said it could copy protected CDs.

Re: protected cd

Didnt think iso buster was for music cd's.....
Maybe im wrong, will media player not do it, or like i mentioned earlier something like alcohol 120%?

Re: protected cd

I have used iso buster on several data discs but didnt know it worked on audio, his method seems ok cant see why your having problems though.
You are clicking EXTRACT OBJECTS arnt you, I had this prob once cos it didnt give me the choice! I chose one of the other options like EXTRACT RAW which was a disaster.

I really agree with his write up, we should have the right to back up our originals, some original discs are so soft and scratch like bugger. also i want to be able to convert my music to mp3 so I can have it in the car!

Re: protected cd

I simply use a cracked version of Nero, never had a single problem with either CD or DVD.

Available free from the usual sources...

Re: protected cd

Nigel, I did everything by the book, as it were. Exactly as the article says. The result is very jittery.

For use in the car is the reason I want to copy, and for longevity. Use the copy first, save the original for later.

Daz, what is a cracked copy of Nero? I have a copy of Nero. Do I have to break it? ;)

Re: protected cd

I have no idea on how to crack an original version of Nero, i downloaded a version which stated cracked + serial etc. and have never used another program since...

Except for Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2, but i only use that if i need to creat DVD menus.

Re: protected cd

if i have problems with protected cd's i just import the cd on apple itunes at a high quality mp3 bitrate. Once the album is on the pc i then use itunes to burn the album back to cd as wav files that play as normal.

Re: protected cd

Use CloneCD, this will copy pretty much any protected CD, although it depends on your reader/writer combination. Most modern drives should work fine.

Re: protected cd

have you tried using nero 6 express? copies everything except dvd movies, for that i use dvd shink!

Dan

cds

clone cd 4 backing up 1.1 copies i think u might have 2 tick read sub channel data and tick write sub data and make sure your writer writes in raw dao, problems with sao only,or nero 6 for converting mp3 to cd,diskjuggler is also good 4 cd and dvd images v4,iso buster will just open the image to play it whatever, alcohol 120 is also good 4 certain images burning,if u need music cds u could pick them up as mp3 and then burn them back as cd,i dont know if later writers write in mode 2 as i think that reads some protections but i think that is more for pc games.

Re: cds

Dan, I have Nero Express 6.
It can't read the CD I'm trying to copy because it is protected.

Re: cds

And the winner is.........

Hellraiser, with Shenmu a close runner up.

CloneCD did the trick (eventualy.) Almost gave up.
CloneCD was my last resort.

Thanks, lads!!
