Just had some good news on the insurance front..
fiat coupe 20v turbo is only an extra £40 on top of the hgt!!! Works out at around £660!!

However, are'nt these coupes hard 2 find or what?!?!

Just been on autotrader and there's "none" for sale in scotland ffs!

Any1 got any advice on the 20v turbo on what to look out for and stuff when buying 1???

I know they changed the hgts in '98 did they do the same to the coops??

Would love a '98>> but they're a bit pricey (i've got bout 5k) Would there be much difference in pre '98 models???

Cheers lads!

I drove loads over the summer as Andy now has one. The simple advice is spend the most you can and get the FFSH and cambelt history, the same as the Bravo HGT.
Don't dismiss the 16VT if it is a good one - we have a chip that takes Andy's to 225bhp.
Also, there are only 1 in 10 20VT's that actually develop 220BHP although you are unlikely to notice it.
The brakes are firm and progressive if they aint walk away. Also check for condensation as a number suffer the odd leak or 5!
And lastly, thrape it good and hard and watch for the blue smoke. Best way is almost coast down a hill then flor it at the bottom.

Re: Re: Coop!

Cheers lads gratefull!

Its gonna take me a while to find 1 i think :(

Re: Re: Re: Coop!

Hmm.. 225 from a 16valver eh? :)

Almost tempting.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Coop!

The 20v is the one 2 go for though right?

So tell me whats it like 2 drive, would u recommend one?

Yeh

Dont get 1 that will need the cam belt doing.

Very few places will do the job on the coupe for under £500 - Something about having to drop the engine out.

Some places do it without this - but not many!

Hope this helps

Go Coupe

My mate who lives in Southport may be getting rid of his V reg 20 v turbo - I've driven it a few times - it's a great car. Usual Fiat odds and sods problems, but such amazing cars to drive. Feels like near perfect balance, and warp drive acceleration.

The down sides is lots of gears changes thru' the six speed box to keep the turbo up and running, and the risk of shredding tyres in first - it's got a very basic style of traction control in first but if you have a heavy foot, you suddenly find 6000 revs on the rev counter, and a smokey smell.

Impressed by your insurance quote.
