hi there. I'm contemplating saving up and buying mods for my t jet punto such as gsr induction, supersprint exhaust, forge intercooler, abarth turbo and a remap. I am a proud owner of a rap yellow stock 09 t jet but after joining this website and reading up on a few bits an bobs about car modding i am contemplating whether its worth going this far with my t jet as i know for sure it would void my 5 year warranty i got on the car. if i did go for all of these mods how much would it cost to fit them all if i purchased them all ready to fit? would fiat still deal with me for servicing or at all for that matter? if not where would i take my car to be fixed if problem occured? Also would 200bhp be achiveable with these mods mentioned or would i have to go further?

Just buy an SS and remap it if ya aint fussed with warranty, or get an SS and a TMC box if ya still want warranty.

Save you so much money/hassle in the long run. it might seem cheap now, but think of the depreciation of your car, who is going to want to buy a car thats a) hard to get services b) has no warranty at all...

Its also worth noting that the SS can handle that power, its all very well having 200 bhp, but if ya cant go round corners or stop, wont be much fun for long!

Hi nice T-Jet I like the rap yellow, personal perception plays a part in that colour on the forums. Anyway it depends if your passionate about tuning your T-Jet if yes then its probably worth your money, some modifications are more obvious to start with than others like induction and exhaust, then moving onto mods like the Abarth turbo and forge intercoolers. If your worried about your warranty the best thing to do is speak with your dealer and ask if certain modifications will effect warranty, they may just void the warranty if the problem is to do with the mod itself or something its caused, modify at your own risk ;) its all good though mind

To begin I'd start with a GSR or Forge induction kit, both have proven good across the forums, GSR being the more prominent as its been around longer and for other reasons ill explain.

Secondly I would opt out for the exhaust together with the induction giving your T-Jet optimum intake, letting the car breath will have some gains in BHP and throttle response. You say Supersprint, they are a good exhaust manufacture I shouldnt see any problems there. Im sure someone will give advice on exhaust manufacturers and their exhausts. (y)

Next Id say either the Abarth turbo or the forge intercooler, again the intercooler will maximise the T-Jet ability to breath easier giving more gains in BHP and working with the new turbo to take strain off the turbo and let it work "better" :) The Abarth turbo is a good upgrade as its apparently a straight swap for the existing T-Jet turbo, with bigger internals the Abarth turbo is considered a good upgrade and again with better gains in BHP. If purchasing an Abarth turbo I would opt for a re-map not long after as the turbo works a lot better from knowledge if the GP has been mapped

Lastly the Re-Map, not being biased but your probably best going to red.dot for a re-map as they are considered the better guys for the job when it comes to mapping a GP, now earlier i mentioned the GSR induction, red.dot offer a remap and GSR induction together with a RR to show the gains together, this maybe an option for you.

Now prices:
GSR induction - £170 approx
Supersprint exhaust - Not sure on price id say around the £250 - £300 mark
Forge intercooler - £330 approx
Abarth turbo - can vary, normally around £100 in classifieds , Fiat as £400 for reconditioned, hope someone can shed more light on this for you.
Re-Map - £300 around that figure. Although red.dot on a RR day can do for £200 IIRC

Theres your guide my friend hope this helps, and im sure many of the well knowledgeable forum members will point you in the right direction some more. (y) Sorry if it looks like a book in the thread (y)

thanks for reply mate. I have read allot of good comments about red dot on here and that seems to be the place to go to get any mods done. The only problem for me is im from Sunderland and on AA rout planner its an estimated 4 hours 45 minuite drive:eek:. If i could save up and buy all of the parts mentioned and bring them to red dot with me, roughly how much would it cost for the whole lot to be fitted at once? I love my t jet and i think Red dot are the only tuning specialists i would let touch it. Im just trying to save numerous journeys to red dot. pitty its so far away for me. I was hoping to make the rr day on the 5th of june. also do red dot provide any sort of warrenty for work carried out?

the supersprint exhaust will be around £1000 for the system its very expensive and also not so affective once youve done some more mods because its designed for the standard tjet, a custom exhaust place will build to your specification and taste just ask around your local area for recomendations,

the abarth turbo i think only 2 have been sold at £100 usually around £200-£350 they are a good mod as they have the same outer dimensions so its technically a straight swap, if you want over 200bhp then think about getting that uprated by a turbo company and the turbo characteristics will change aswell as maximum power,

but as said the search button provides all :)

There is another intercooler available from an Italian source (can be found on ebay), which is virtually identical to the Forge one for about 95 pounds plus delivery and VAT.

It's a lot cheaper, but what about build quality?

To fit an induction kit, red dot charge £45 an hour plus any extras that are needed and say that it is a long job so you are looking at just £100 to fit the induction kit. Your remap will be another £250 + vat (includes a before and after dyno session). So that's £600 just to get a GSR induction, have it fitted by red dot and then them remap the car.

Fit it yourself? Its really not that difficult, even I can do them ;) Or alternatively, go to a RR day with Peter, they will fit it for you. You don't have to have a remap to have the induction, but you will get a larger gain with the full map

If you are asking these questions i would seriously do some research.

a) Hard to get services? Since when? What are you talking about? You can get it serviced the same as any other car. b) what a stupid point. Not even going to bother to write a response to it.

Difference between an SS and a Tjet in the chassis/breaking department.

1, different springs
2, bigger wheels
3, Bigger brakes

All 3 of those can be done easily to a tjet, so a Tjet can handle the power as well as an SS, it can go round corners as well as an SS and it can stop as easily as an SS. So please, do go on and tell how it wont be as much fun in the long run.

What did you get banned for matt?

Serious will they do 1 for the 1.4 8v?

Was thinking of an intercooler anyway, just a suggestion, good to see you back matt ;)
