Hi all

I recently bought a Fiat Punto mk2 elx 16V. It came with its original tape deck, which I have since had replaced with the Fiat CD player mounting head and a Pioneer stereo. The problem is that the garage who did this say that with my new Pioneer stereo, the orginal 100W subwoofer fitted in the car and the speaker above it (both on the LHS side of car when looking in from the boot) will not work. Is there a way for me to connect them up to my new stereo so they will work?

I am a complete car/audio modification virgin so please don't worry about telling me to suck eggs- all help from the most basic level upwards is very much appreciated :)

The subwoofer should be connected via Pre-out cables from the headunit & you can use the original 4 wires for the speakers. Sometmes they are maked: LL,LR,RR,RL = (Left,Left, Left,Right, Right,Right, Right,Left)

Errm if you could explain a little more in depth on how I would go about reconnecting it to the head unit (what is that by the way?) that would be great-like I say, never done this before so I'm afraid you may have to spoon feed me some of it. Thanks

There are 4 speaker wires coming off the Headunit, the left hand side & right hand side. The wires should be marked so you can connect them up correctly. The Pre outs / RCA cables from the Headunit are Red / White, connect up the correct colours on the cables to the amp.

If your going to attend the Brooklands meet I'll be there if you need anymore info. :)

I had a similar problem the other day. I too was installing my first new car stereo. I got it all working.....but no bass :/ spent ages researching and nearly gave up... Then I connected two blue wires labeled remote together and bam boom boom my woofer works!!! Mine is a pioneer too maybe it's similar wiring. The blue wires where on my adaptor bit.
