Got autotrail tracker 2003 reg. goes well but sometimes on a long journey the clutch pedal decides it doesn't want to return after taking my foot off. Sometimes at a very inconvenient time. Temporary fix was to wrap a bungee round the pedal and the gear lever on the dash, works but not a permanent solution. Next time I use it all is well again until it gets used a lot on a long journey. Very damoclian, any answers/solutions?

Check clutch fluid level.
If level correct Change seals in clutch master cylinder. While doing make sure the spring under master piston is intact.
You may be able to do this from inside foot well.
If you can it saves a lot of work and hassle.
I and lots of others did it this way on multipla.
If you can't easily get the seals on their own get a complete master cylinder and just use use new spring and piston complete with seals.
Good luck.
P S elastic cord is a very land rover solution I like it.

You may want to do this before clutch stops disengaging when you are miles from home.

Me too , it certainly teaches that something isn't broken until it's really truly broken.

Hi Folks.
I have been having clutch trouble with my 2002 2.8 jtd motorhome. The pedal was right up tight at the top all the time. Just a slight touch on the clutch pedal would make the clutch slip. At 30 000 miles the clutch must be OK !
I removed the slave cylinder and found sticky motion half way along the barrel. Cleaned up the unit by polishing the inside bore restoring smooth motion along the entire length.
Clutch operation restored to normal, a little slack motion at the top and complete engagement without any slip.
This may not be a complete reply to the clutch problems above but, it may prove useful sometime.

How easy is slave cylinder to remove I'm 71 and not as flexible as in my youth
