Technical Clunky gearbox

I always saw My gearbox as being a bit clunky, especially changing into second gear, but i never actually realised how bad it was until i drove my brothers scirocco the other day.

My foot is fully down in the clutch yet i get a snall grind noise and have to force the gear to get it in. Same with 3rd and 4th but not as bad. Is it just the syncromesh box being itself or have i got a probolem on my hands?

No, it's really that bad even when new But then again, I've ridden cars that are even worse, so...

I double clutch when I feel it doesn't want to get in. Rear is also a pain. Gets better when warm though.
