I recently took my brava to a mechanics who i use to fix different stuff as he deals in used parts and FIATs in general. He is usually very good but recetly the light went out on my mileage clock i asked him if it was just a bulb and he said no it needed new "clocks" now i thought that sounded a bit daft but i said ok and when i got it back fair enough they were on! but after speaking to a few mechanics they seem to think that it should have just been a bulb and if it was a new clock the milage would have changed!
have i been ripped off or not?

I had new clocks on my Bravo when it was a week old as the fuel gauge was faulty and the mileage counter went back to zero on the new clocks.

yeah i thought the mileage would have had to change so as i suspected he has probably just changed a bulb and charged me £30!

On mines it was a bad connection as when they go out slapping the dashboard sorts it, doesn't fail the mot so i haven't bothered with it, if the mileage is the same i reckon he has maybe just slapped it as well or changed the bulb only. How long did he have the car for is a good way to guess what he did? I'm sure changing the clcoks would take an hour or so at least.

Clocks go back to zero if they have been changed. (thats a digital dash).

It was either a bulb or even the fuse under the steering wheel.
