Technical Climate Control

HI Total Newbie here so sorry if its already been asked or a daft question.

Is it possible to convert a standard Air con unit or the climate control unit ? what's involved, is a easy swap or is there more involved ?

Not easily, in short sell the car and buy one with it fitted.

You'll need to rip the entire dash out, change the heater box with a CC one, and move the wiring loom over from a donor vehicle along with the required ECUs and get it proxi aligned to the car.

and the CC isn't as reliable as the manual AC system, so you could be in for a world of pain in the future even if the swap over was successful

I found this thread from searching, was curious myself, it annoys me a little that my GP doesn't have many upgrades on it, just the best most uneconomical engine

Anyone actually got CC is it even any good? Worth it over the either really cold or really hot nobs?

I have CC in my Bravo and I love it. The car is from 2009 and it still works perfectly. I (nearly) always have it on Full Auto, sometimes I change the air flow direction and speed, but mostly it's on Full Auto.
I had in my Stilo, which I had for 2 years, where it also worked perfectly (and in my Lancia Ypsilon, where it also worked without problems, as well as in the Panda 100HP I've also had).
So if I have the choice between CC and manual A/C, I always choose CC.

Not me ... at least for the Bravo. considering all the problems with Climate Control and how difficult it is to fix them.
If i ever get an other Bravo i will search for one with manual AC

What are all these problems?
I haven't had any issues with CC in my Bravo nor in my Stilo, Ypsilon or Panda.
Perhaps I've been lucky

Perhaps.. or you just don't know you have any problems..
They usually consist of the flap motors braking the plastic connector bits. The bits them self's are not expencive.. but to replace them is really difficult.
I've already done it on my Bravo (although they were replaced under warranty only 1 year before that)... so i know what I'm talking about.

Although I agree that it can and does happen, it does seem to be luck of the draw, luckily I was ok with the CC on my Bravo, and we've been ok with it on our Panda also.
