When i first got my sei i had a small accident when i clipped an A class on the rear driver side. Despite only receiving a scratch and a broken towing eye, the woman decided to go through her insurance. As i was only isured TPFT i paid for my own repair (broken headlight and indicator and bumper straightening and cosmetic repairs) out of my own pocket.

Ive never heard anything else from the woman nor received any correspondance from my insurance company on anything saying repairs had been made to this vehicle.

As i paid for my own repair i was wondering if i have made a claim? And as i have not hard anything was wondering if a claim had been made against me? Obviously if not my NCB will improve.

Ive since changed insurance companies as this accident was over a year ago.

what does it say on your policy renewal from that company?

If it says no NCB then you lost it, if it says 1 yr NCB then there wasnt a claim :)

you haven't made a claim. Your insurance company would have made you fill out loads of forms. Similar thing happened to me, I went into the back of a brand new jag, (kind of) and made a small tyre mark on the bumper, we exchanged details, I filled out some forms from my insurance company, and I never heard from the other guy again, still have full NCB (I think). It says so on my renewal form anyway.

Don't worry about it, if you renew, and they say you have 1yr ncb then play dumb, if they haven't put you down with the correct discount, question why. Then haggle like crazy.

Well i changed insurance companies, wasnt with them for a full year, never heard anything from them, had no forms to fill in, obviously this helps my stilo fund insurance for next year

On renewal when they asked you "Any accidents, claims or convictions" what did you say?

I did not renew the policy with the insurance group i was with at the time as i got a better qoute elsewhere. Ive told my current insurance group ive had an incident, on the assumption of hearing something however as ive not had any correspondance or anything, i am beginning to wonder if i will have full NCB

I told 'em what happened and they said "oh" so long as you can proove that by way of a renewal letter that you have 3yrs NCB then we'll put it down as a non-fault accident. (y)

But you didnt finish the year with the company so you changed before the end of the year?

Meaning you wouldnt have got your NCB even without the crash.

I had an accident when I was a learner driver last year, crashed into the back of a posh car with a big boss from Help the Aged in it  I dented my front wing, cracked my bumper, smashed my indicators and headlights in and cracked the front grill. The car I hit had white paint off my car on her back bumper. She took my details and I reported it to my insurance company straight away. They made me send my car to the garage who said it would be written off  I then rang them to say I didn't want my car written off and I fixed it myself and I, like you, never heard anything about it again. I did ring up my insurers though to see if she did claim off them but she didn't. At the time though she said becasue it was a company car she would have to inform them, she said if it were her car personally she wouldn't bother. Maybe she just T Cutted it out (y) My insurance company said they put it down as an 'allowed incident' that wouldn't affect my NCB.

I did finish the year with them, they sent me a renewal form but i never filled it in as i wasnt impressed with the qoute and found a cheaper qoute. I was never in contact with them again
