cheep as chips???

does anybody have one of those chips from ebay that apparently give fiats a 20bhp gain in horse power?

i had a look at them and it is possible (it just makes the engine think its running colder and delays the timing for an excess in fuel and therefore power) but im not to sure wether or not its quite worth it? i mean is it like a bit of a *bodge* or is it a decent chip?

i hurd of somthing to do with an old escort about just putting aluminum foil between terminals to do the same or something.

woz just looking for some proof though.

madcar, they are simple resistors about 7pence from Maplin...Just I can't tell you what resistance they are....

As f.i.a.t has said, the benefit isn't there I don't believe. In my experience of reading about these, they only make the car run richer and hence you lose economy and richness doesn't give any extra power but can cause damage to your engine correct?

If they worked, you would have heard lots of people showing off how great they are...! No simple 7p resistor can give you 20BHP. It's funny because when they first hit ebay they said 5BHP, now the adverts state 20!

Don't take my word for it however.

lots of stuff on this forum about them do a search for ebay +chip. they make your car run rich wich isnt good can kill your cat for a start. they are the greatest ebay ripoff ever[V]

Along with the other 1000 different ebay rip offs. You need to watch out sometimes and be aware of somebody offering a lot for very little. £5 for 20BHP is not going to happen, or is somebody going to tell me it is?! :S
