Check Parking Brake & airbag warning lights on the dashboard.
RAC scanned the car & found DTC: C1429-86, seat belt information failure-signal invalid in all modules.
Also DTC: B0050-13, front driver buckle switch-circuit open.
Replaced the driver buckle but warning lights remain.
the only way to move the car is to manually release the handbrake.
Any ideas?

Need to read for codes , clear the codes.
If codes come back straight away the problem has not been fixed.

Hi
both a Launch X431 Pro Mini & a Snap-on Verus Edge.
Did those devices pick up the original codes?
If They did and successfully clear the codes following repair and no codes now showing I am at a loss.

Hi,
Perhaps there are codes set that those scan tools cannot read/ clear.
I am sorry that I can not help.
Fingers crossed someone else who has direct experience with this problem will speak up.

If you do find the cause and solution please let us know.

Best wishes
Jack

Hi
Sorry for the late reply to your response,
thanks very much for the information.
This should certainly help to resolve my problem.
Do you have a pinout diagram for the airbag module?
Same link. Left Hand Drive but probable same/similar for RHD/UK.

The files are for a personal helpful response to a Fiat owner in trouble and for personal use and will be removed within 24 Hours!
Once again thank you for the invaluable information you have supplied.
As a final request do you have a pinout diagram for the ABS Control Module?
Kind regards
Harold Rice

So you have the docs/files ?
I thought that I had acknowledged receipt of the documents, I apologize if I didn't.
If I have to change the Airbag Control Module, I would appreciate it if you could let me know its location & if a new module has to be fitted, is it Plug & Play, or does it have to be initialized?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I will of cause provide full details on the Forum if we can resolve the issues
kind regards
Harold

Problem solved!!
To date, a new driverside seat buckle fitted supplied by the only Fiat dealership in Leicestershire - warning lights still present.
Next, I booked it in to the dealership for a diagnostic check- result, faulty driverside seat buckle that was supplied by the dealership.
The dealership then supplied a new seat buckle and we fitted it, still warning lights!!
Booked in again to the dealership for yet another diagnostic check- the result was a faulty seat buckle, the two buckles supplied to date were both the incorrect part for my car!!!
Eventually, the correct part was supplied and fitted - success at last !!!
A very costly exercise, the buckle was removed & fitted three times by us plus two long trips to the dealership for the diagnostic checks!!
My thanks to jackwhoo & S130 who commented & supplied information.

I'm hearing more about Fiat dealers getting the wrong parts for a car. Should not happen.

Just happened to me on my 500X. Xenon headlamp was smashed and bonnet damaged so had to make an insurance claim due to the cost. Vehicle went into a Fiat body shop but somehow they ordered the wrong headlamp so I'm still without my car till they get the correct part in.

Out of interest I checked with my old trusted friends/parts departments at two other dealers and they both instantly came up with the correct part number.

Me thinks there is an increasing lack of attention to detail and care, and more speed/haste prevailing when it should not.

But hey, who am I to criticise / complain. I'm just the customer who drives a Fiat, has no knowledge and experience and they are experts!

All very frustrating as you have found out with your incorrectly ordered parts.

I'm having a nightmare ordering a starter motor for my sister's Megane.

I removed it and photographed it, and even wrote down the Renault and Bosch part numbers, that are stamped on the starter motor itself.. so when I searched for a compatible item you'd think I would turn up the right part instantly.

Reality is that suppliers' listings for "compatible with Bosch 001 107 047" means something with the wrong number of teeth and too short to fit into the cradle (don't ask) that supports it. When I tell them mine is different, they suggest it was must have been changed by someone (although the car has been owned from new and it really hasn't been changed by anybody).

I eventually found an item for a Clio where the part in the photo was supposedly the "actual" part.. with 9 teeth, not 10... and the right length and solenoid position so it would fit.... but when it arrived it was the same 10-tooth, "short" version as above. They swore blind it was listed as "compatible" with the Bosch 001 107 047.. even though my photo of the Bosch 001 107 047 and their item showed it was completely different. Anyhow they couldn't get "the part in the photo"... but at least then I had another cross-reference number.

A bit of cross-checking turned up an OE Bosch one (surprise! but at £250.. costs half what the car is worth) and a Lithuanian made doodah that looks the correct shape, length and spec' but was apparently only fitted to Meganes made up to 1996, although a side-note said only "chassis to August 1999" (Eureka!) .. so it's now on order (fingers crossed).

My theory is that someone made a pattern part, mistakenly labelled it as "compatible with..." and then a load of other manufacturers used the same list to describe their part. Without the actual starter/part numbers in my hand, I'd have been ordering multiple starters and receiving the same type of wrong one every time. It's been interesting..... :geek:
