Last night I got the check engine warning message on the dash and the orange injection symbol lit up on my home journey from work, so drove home (5 miles) slowly and checked the manual for the error. As it seem to be part of the induction/fuel system checked under bonnet and sure enough the oil breather pipe, which I can't get fixed until next week, so had taped up with scotch tape, had split further up away from the fix. I put some more tape on and started the engine. No warning or lights. Took it for a spin and engine seemed smooth again.
Any one technical know if its ok to drive it until the service next week? if the error is now cleared or will the onboard computer need some "magic doing" to clear problem properly?
(cars a 1.2)
I do hope the improved oil breather pipe cures this problem as I don't want to be changing it every year/4000 miles
. The similar part on my old alfa is at least 20 years old, and probably nearer 40 years old, and still perfect after about 100,000 miles, the fiat has done only 17,000 and this will be it's 3rd pipe!
