chatter from 1.8

hey all,
just brought a bravo 1.8, 1996 with 94k on the clock, when i accellerate theres a sort of "chatter" comming from the front whick stops when i ease off, im guessing cams but any toher suggestions?? also abit cammy when cold
(moaning b*st**d it only cost me £750) lol.

Its old, you have to expect some noise. It could be a worn CV joint or lack of oil in the gearbox or many things that will have worn over 9 years.

16v engines with hydraulic tappets are noisy when cold.

Nothing to worry about then, just got to look after the old girl!!

there is also a metalic "knock" when going slowly over bumps from the osf (abit unnerving) , could this be also a sign of the cv joint as the anti roll bar bush seems ok, oh and the wheel is tight lol

Lower arm bushes, shock, CV joint, ball joint, lots of things.
