Just a quick follow up to the forum thread. I have since done a few hundred miles in the car and all seems to be running as normal. I even managed after carefull consideration on the best way of tackling it, managed to remove and replace the extreme right glow plug. Not an easy job! I got some thinner socket extension with a flexible option to allow for a small angle change, plus a unniversal joint coupling (not sure what you call these) to get a 30 degree angle or so on it. That was seriously fiddly but I got it out and in. I only managed this thanks to my wife's small hands being able to get round all the pipes etc to get the plug thread started in the hole. I just could not get that thread started with the tools! Getting the lead nut off and on was fiddle too, but got there in the end.
TIP! - Put a rag or a peice of foam to fill the space below were the plug goes, then if you drop any tools or nuts they don't drop out of sight into the engine. Never to be seen again! I had to go and buy another 12mm glow plug socket after dropping my one - try as I might I could not get sight of it to retrieve it. The remaining plug, third from the left is still a puzzle on how to get it out. It has some sort of plastic box bolted on to the plastic engine cover support with pipes coming out of it that totally shields access to the plug. One goes to somewhere in the system. the other one covers the plug head completely at the point were goes into the back of the camshaft cover. Just bang on the point you need to get to the plug! Maybe cutting the original sealed connection at the camshaft cover might let me remove that pipe out of the way and let me in to the plug. We will see... In the meantime I am letting my skinned nuckles recover and hopping for a bit warmer weather before I tackle this job.
Have a good Christmas all!
Dave.
