I have just bought a new gear knob for my bravo, tried taking the big mingin original one off but I was wondering if someone who has already done this could tell me how they did? It doesn't seem to turn, or pull off, I'm a bit concerned about damaging the stick etc. Any help will be appreciated, cheers.

It's not too easy I'm afraid, as far as I know you'll have to cut it off cause it doesn't screw on or off.

tool

If you bring it to your Fiat dealer they might do it for free. They have a tool there that just levers it off...would oonly take a few seconds!!

Easy-pesy!

Just to lay this one to rest as many people have asked before. I had the same difficulty when trying to replace the original with a momo one.

After an hour of perseverence, I found removing the gator at the base and lifting the base above the gearknob i.e. so the gator is upside down covering the knob, and exposing the gear lever. You will find a little plastic washer attaching the gator to the bottom of the gearknob. Unclip this and slide knob and gator away.

Couldn't be easier

Hope this helps

thanks but!!!?

hi, thanks for the replys guys...BUT!!...

i tried what paul said and i couldn't find the washer, took the gator off and everything but had no look. possbly due to yours being an older model? mines 2001 u see?

secondly i went to my fiat garage and spoke to the mechanic who said there is no tool, he even asked the rest of the lads who also knew nothing about a tool?? can anyone actually confirm that there is one? had it used before at a fiat garage??

the best the mechanic could do was to tell me to use grips, but failing that swa ot off and buy a new one if i ever come to sell the car.

please please any other suggestions before i take to it with a chainsaw!!!! lol!!

thanks...

Gearknob

I have a 2001 Bravo and as has already been said:
Remove the frame holding the gaiter in place and pull right up. You will then see a plastic washer at the top below the gearknob, this unclips which will then allow the gaiter to come free, all you then have to do is uncsrew the gearknob and fit your new one, took me about 4 minutes.
