Well not exactly mid-way -

My Renewal is up in a few months and the same month/month after I'm expecting to upgrade to a newer car.

My current renewal (as of today) is £1500

on the new car it is £810

If I renew it on my current car and then a month later get my new car Would it stay on the £1500 or would i get a pro-rota refund?

Would it be wise to sort out the new car for my renewal date?

This will only be my second year insurance (first year was £3100... so major drop with either)
So i don't know how it works normally!

That's the problem I don't know who I'll be insuring my second year with.

Won't be staying with my current insurer! :p

Need to get cheapest 3 for new car and cheapest 3 for current.

Call each with your quote, see which will be cheapest with admin fees etc (y)

Normally though, these cheap one's will probably work out more for what your wanting to do. It's only with the slightly higher priced insurers who provide good cover and service, rather than the cheapest and often nastiest price, who are easier going on admin fees etc.
